Shoe customs in Japan/China?

The person below me isn't 100% correct. I lived in Japan a year and some places have toilet shoes. You take yours shoes off because you went outside not because you went to the bathroom. There was a mall where I worked and they had bathroom shoes. Some nicer bathrooms have them to help keep it clean. Some Japanese people have them at their house to keep your feet clean in the bathroom etc. It isn't really common but its there sometimes. You will not be able to find any shoes in Japan. Bring your shoes there. Probably about a size 11 in means is as big as you can get there. My gf had the opposite problem because she wore a womens size 4. She couldnt get any that small lol.
