The two fighter jet escort is to shoot the airliner down - if it becomes necessary to do so - to stop it crashing into or blow up over something - didn't you know the people in the plane by now are deemed 'expendable' by now if they are already in that position - it is not an escort to provide comfort or safety - it is as a last resort - this is why I want the damn things made safer - it is about time people all people demanded that aircraft were made safer or the security round them was made thorough like that of the Israeli airline El Al - they have had their jets guarded by air marshalls for 20 odd years with guns that fire special bullets that won't pierce the fusalage. But I say we need more than that, in case it's not sabotage - it's just a malfunction with the aircraft or something. Why should just the military have parachutes or ejector seats - I don't care what it costs - thats there bloody problem - please say this to your friends and get them to say it to their friends and lets end this complacency once and for all !!!
