Doe's heating a liquid fuel inside of a gas tank cause the vapors to expand?

If the air conditioning unit on flight 800 heated the center fuel tank would'nt this heating cause the fuel to evaperate and cause the hydrocarbon vapors to expand forcing out any if any atmospheric air.
