Does apearance matter?

hey, i have a friend (who anoyes me) who's in my band and he's getting really big. he's starting to get acne bad too. i guess its all the junk he eats. non stop, smokes too. we were supose to take this band to the next level but he doesnt care about looking cool. i think apearance matters if you wanna get a following but he doesnt even look like a musician, and here i am looking like someone from korn. so... does it even matter? he's my lead guitarist too!
