Biking into Canada from Michigan?

I'm planning on biking from Muskegon, Michigan (Lake Michigan Coast) to Chatham, Ontario to visit a friend. The distance won't be a problem but i'm just wondering about crossing into Canada.. Are there any pedestrian friendly border points? Apparently the Port Huron Bridge recently stopped letting pedestrians and bikers across.. I heard that I could take a taxi or bus across, but honestly, i'd rather just find a place i can go throug myself.. I have my pport.. and won't be bringing any alcohol, weapons, mive amounts of money or any of the like into Canada.. So, any suggestions, advice or tips? Thanks!
